AAHPERD Convention with GeoPalz
We are still on the convention tour! This week, we’re visiting with folks at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Central District Convention in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We love the show theme: “Moving Mountains – One Step at a Time”
We are especially excited to hear the guest speaker at the banquet: Tucker Dupree, U.S. Paralympic Athlete, who is to speak on “Chasing The Dream, Not The Competition.” In October 2006, Dupree woke up one morning and could not see clearly out of his left eye. He was sent to the hospital to have some tests done, where he was diagnosed with Lebers Hereditary Optic tag-line: Neuropathy. Dupree was told he would be completely blind within six months. Despite his condition, Dupree continued swimming and by his senior year he was captain of his high school’s swim team and was named team MVP.
In 2008, Dupree participated in his first Paralympic Games. Competing in multiple events Dupree has medaled and grown as an athletic and person.
